Culturally Informed Consulting

We center Indigenous worldviews, knowledge systems, values, and protocols in all our services.  It's more than simply including Indigenous perspectives—it is about working with Indigenous communities in ways that are respectful, reciprocal, and rooted in cultural integrity.

Here are our Consulting objectives:

  • Grounding our work in Indigenous Knowledge & Values

Consultants draw on Indigenous teachings, languages, ways of knowing, and lived experience. This includes understanding relationality (how all things are interconnected), land-based knowledge, and community-defined priorities.

  • Community-Led and Relationship-Centered

Rather than imposing external frameworks, we prioritize community voice and leadership. Our approach is based on trust, long-term relationships, and consent, not transactional or extractive methods.

  • Respect for Protocols and Cultural Practices

This means following community-specific cultural protocols—like how to enter into agreements, conduct meetings, or seek guidance from Elders—and ensuring those practices are honored throughout the project.

  • Ethical and Reflective Practice

Consultants often emphasize self-location (acknowledging who they are and where they come from), and engage in ongoing reflection about power, privilege, and responsibility. Ethical practice includes respecting data sovereignty and ensuring community benefit.

  • Decolonizing Approaches

Culturally informed Indigenous consulting challenges colonial assumptions embedded in institutions or systems. It seeks to shift power dynamics and co-create solutions that align with Indigenous worldviews.
