Nindizhaawin
Mishiikehn Consulting operates on Michi Saagig Land. Anishnaabe Gikendamowin teaches us that the Michi Saagig have been here since time immemorial and that prior to European contact, the Michi Saagig shared this land with the Odawa and Huron nations We have been taught by people of this territory that they are the people of the North shore of Lake Ontario (contemporary name) and it's tributaries.
Anishnaabe Gikendamowin, from our families, has also taught us that as visitors, that have been welcomed to this land, it is our responsibility to respect the Michi Saagig People, their Stewardship, Teachings, Protocols and Knowledge. Importantly, never to take these responsibilities for granted.
Specifically, but not limited to;
-
To treat the land and its resources with care, minimizing our impact and avoiding actions that could be disrespectful.
-
Be aware of our surroundings and how our behavior might affect Michi Saagig Communities and the environment.
-
Make a conscious effort to learn about the history, culture, and traditions of the Michi Saagig who's territory we live, operate our business and call home.
